Inexpensive All Inclusive Honeymoons

A travel agent reveals some great inexpensive all inclusive honeymoons

My wife and I got married recently, and when you marry a travel agent, there seems to be double the pressure regarding the honeymoon. Everyone assumes that since you have helped countless other people plan their honeymoons, planning your own would be a breeze. The funny thing is, I seemed to change roles, from experienced travel consultant to nervous husband to be trying to plan the trip of a lifetime for his new bride. Here are some tips that will help you find and plan inexpensive all inclusive honeymoons without losing your shirt (or mind, for that matter!).

Choose your destination wisely. As I write this, we are sitting on the beautiful island of Koh Chang, just off the coast of Thailand. Sure, we could have gone for the package deal to Cancun, but that would have cost more, and provided a less adventurous destination. The old saying “Know Thyself” rings true; speak with your spouse to be and determine what you both want out of your honeymoon. Romance? Luxury? Adventure? The bargain of the century? Contrary to what travel brochures want you to think, most destinations can only provide you with some of these, so it’s important to agree what is most important.

The longer the better. Just as it’s true for marriages themselves, so is it true for honeymoons. For inexpensive all inclusive package deals, you’re better off trying to book a week long stay, rather than try to save a few bucks on a three or four day stay. Most hotel/flight packages revolve around this timetable, as an airline’s fare rules usually require a six night stay to obtain the cheapest deal. Why? The airlines know they can get top dollar from business travelers (who often travel for only a few days at a time) so they sell cheaper tickets to people who are traveling for longer.

Contact a travel agent. While you can certainly book a lot of travel yourself online, having a travel agent in your corner when things go south on your honeymoon is money well spent. Not only can they help you score inexpensive all inclusive honeymoons, travel agents also offer their expertise on the region, and provide you with one point of contact should anything goes wrong (and believe me, they will!).
