Travel Requirements for Mexico
Here's the scoop on travel requirements for mexico
The first time I crossed the border from the United States to Mexico, I was accompanied by 26 other people from around the world. As an American citizen, the border crossing required little more than my drivers license and a smile before they let me in, though for several other nationalities, the situation was somewhat more difficult. Here's the standard travel requirements for mexico:
American, Australian, Canadian, EU member country, New Zealand and Israeli passport holders do not require a visa to enter Mexico, though they will generally be given a visitors permit. Â Here is the contact information for specific countries:
Canada: 800.461.9999

Great Britain: 0845/010-9000

Australia: 1300/363-263

New Zealand: 04/473-6099

Here is a brief outline of the entry allowances for Mexico per person:
- Two cameras
- Twelve rolls of film
- One laptop
- One CD player
- One DVD player
- One instrument (though harmonicas in different keys don't seem to pose any issues)
- One carton of cigarettes
- 3 litres of liquor
- 3 litres of wine
All in all, customs in Mexico is pretty easy going, and generous with their allowances. You can stock up while there, and bring a little bit of the party home with you!
Should you lose your visitor permit, immediately contact the Immigration Office to obtain another copy. Note to business travelers: travel requirements for Mexico are the same for business as for tourists. When you receive the form for a tourist visa, make sure to fill out the box for (you guessed it) business travelers.
