Annual trip travel insurance can be obtained by applying for short term travel insurance… just make sure that you read the riders of the policy. I once had a friend purchase travel insurance and needed medical assistance when he had compression problems scuba diving. Guess what? Scuba diving wasn't included in the policy, and he had to fork out over $25K or live the rest of his life in a bubble. Tough choice, huh?

You should look into what kind of coverage your credit card company offers many of them will do so for free if you use their card for travel related purchases. Also, make sure to determine your existing coverage. Many people are covered through their spouse, parent or the state, and may not even know it!
