Marc Jacobs Flight Bag
The two Marc Jacobs flight bag options available on the market (going fast!)
When it comes to flight bags, there is no name on the market hotter than Marc Jacobs. Rather than sell them wholesale to distributors around the world, MJ has decided to distribute the bags themselves through Marc Jacobs stores in select locations. A smart business move- limiting supply in order to increase demand and profit margins- is further testament to Marc Jacobs business acumen, not to mention fashion sense.
The first Marc Jacobs flight bag Explorer, featured a classic Pan Am logo on the front. Priced at just under $50, this flight bag sold off the shelves in record time. People loved the PVC vinyl material, ideal for extended flight travel, and the insignia of one of the first major airlines in the world gave the bag a retro yet classic image, a throwback to the golden era of airline travel, when stewardesses were trensetters, and the cocktails were constant…
After the success of the Explorer flight bag, Marc Jacobs rereleased it with his signature on the back of the bag, offered in white or navy blue (with respective color as a contrast). Following yet another success, a new flight bag, the Innovator, was created as a limited release and again sold exclusively in Marc Jacobs stores.
These flight bags, besides their obvious intended purpose, are fantastic for day trips, and can be used equally well for afternoon picnics, trips to the gym, or days out shopping (theoretically, you could use it for grocery shopping, but why risk it?) A Marc Jacobs flight bag is the equivalent of Burberry scarves a few years ago; it is all the rage. Fortunately, the former can be obtained for much less than the latter. Happy flying! |
