Columbia Tents
Columbia tents are among the best in the business, both for recreational campers and harcore trekkers. Have used several Columbia tents over the years, and have enjoyed all of them immensely (with the exception of the one man tent on a two-person trip, but hey, that’s not their fault). In this article, I’d like to review some of the hottest tents out there today, and where you can find the best values available.
Mt. Logan. This is a very lightweight tent (7.9 lbs.) that sleeps two people comfortably. Remains dry in heavy rain; ideal for people on trekking trips, or who don’t like to pack too much. My wife and I have used this tent on a road trip across the USA, and we had plenty of room. The added pockets provide plenty of places for toiletries and other accessories.
Sharp Trail. These tents are one of Columbia’s finest for families. They sleep four people comfortably, and are highly rain resistant (with its patented GoBe Dry system you won’t see a drop inside). The fiberglass poles are very high quality, providing flexibility and durability.
High Trail. If your family is larger, or you just want more room for the kids to play, this is the tent for you. A large tent by any measure, this beast can sleep eight people, and has two separate rooms, which is great if you want to have a sleeping area and a play area.
Conrad Ridge. This tent is similar to the High Trail in regards to size and separate rooms. While it is a little heavier (only 3 lbs.) it has a full rain-fly, which makes this the choice if your family plans to camp somewhere where storms are a possibility. The drawback of this tent over the High Trail series is that there is only one door, which really limits the access. Still, the added dryness may be worth it…
These are four of the most highly recommended Columbia tents on the market today, and should be able to suit your needs regardless of your situation.
