International Travel Discount Airfares
International travel discount airfares are possible for many groups, though you may be able to get a better deal when shopping wholesale. Here's a list of people who qualify for international travel discount airfares:
Students (with ID) If you are traveling abroad, take the time to apply for an International Student Identification Card (ISIC). They usually cost around thirty dollars, but are worth there weight in gold. I saved over a thousand dollars using this card on my year abroad.
Military: Active military can request a free tag along flight, known as a hop with the Space A Flight program. You can also get great travel discounts by visiting Militarytravel.com if you are active, or vettravel.com if you are a veteran.
Infants (under 24 months): Make sure you request a bassinet before purchasing a ticket.
Emergency. Airlines may grant you a discount or even waive the airfare if you have a death in your immediate family. Not really the best way to score international travel discount airfares, but at least you know about it.
If you don't fit into any of these classifications, don't fret: there is always a way to get a discounted flight. For example, if you book a coach flight, and request an upgrade before anyone else, you may fly first class without paying a dime! Also, you can take advantage of last minute travel deals, provided you aren't picky about your destination. Furthermore, you can access wholesalers online and take advantage of their specials.
