International Air Travel Deals
International air travel deals can be found every day of the week; whether they happen to head in your intended direction is another matter entirely. I am going to show you a few tricks of the trade that travel agents use to score great international air travel deals for their clients.
Air travel is a lot like the stock market. Every day airlines are selling tickets, which are purchased by travel agents and consolidators and then resold to the public at a higher price. Every day these prices are based upon the principles of supply and demand; if a flight is wide open, the price will be much lower (often by hundreds or thousands of dollars) than if it was overbooked. There are times when a flight was full, but suddenly the travel agency that was holding a dozen of those seats voided their tickets, and suddenly there was more supply to meet the demand (and those tickets went down in price).
In order to take advantage of international air travel deals, you need to go to the source. After all, you will always save money paying wholesale rather than retail. To do this, you need to contact an airline consolidator, who purchases plane tickets in bulk from the airlines and sells them to travel agencies (and the public, if they only knew about them). Look up "airline consolidators" and contact a few of them for quotes. Their prices will always be equal to or cheaper than those you find on Orbitz.
Use consolidators as your ace in the hole when dealing with a travel agency, but keep in mind that they only work well on international flights. Working with a travel agent and a consolidator will guarantee you are able to secure some of the best international air travel deals.
