A general guide to calculating airplane flight time distances
There are times when I'm really interested to see just how far the flight I'm taking is. Many clients of mine have taken adventures abroad, and have included the miles traveled as part of their trip statistics. If you are interested in seeing just how far you've flown, check out the airplane flight distance tool at http://www.webflyer.com/travel/milemarker/ Simply type in the airports you're flying from, press submit and there you have it!
As for airplane flight times, I highly recommend www.flightstats.com, which provides up to date information as to the status of a particular flight. You can check to see if your flight will arrive on time, if there are any missed connections that may impede your trip, and if used in conjunction with a travel agent, you can have someone working on fixing these issues for you, sometimes before you even realize it happened!
Use these two tools to help you determine when you're leaving, as well as where you've been. One of my clients created a travel blog for her friends and family to follow her travels in real time. She took the widget from Flightstats website (which showed her flight status) and attached it to her blog. Can you imagine how much relief she brought her mother? She also posted her miles flown on the home page, which was updated every time she traveled. As you can see, airplane flight and distance calculators can be used not just for travel, but for providing peace of mind to friends and family.
