Vacations To St. Maarten
Vacations to St. Marrten (or St. Martin) are a journey into paradise: lush green trees stand out against the strong blue skies and sea. Many people include a stop at Puerto Rico on their vacation, as it is only 150 miles away. English is spoken across the island, with Dutch and French spoken on their respective locations.
The beauty of St. Maarten is enhanced by the amount of activities it boasts. This wonderful island caters to many outdoor interests, including hiking, swimming, diving, parasailing, horseback riding, and of course, boating. No vacation to St. Maarten would be complete without sampling the local Carribean dishes, particularly on the French side (no offense to the Dutch!)
You can expect year round temperatures of 80 degrees F, often with a cool coastal breeze. Many of my clients have enjoyed their vacations here, but end up complaining their trip was too short. This, unfortunately, is a very common complaint among people traveling to the Caribbean; by the time they have finally had a chance to relax, it's already time to head home.
St. Marrten does not require travel visas for North American and European travelers. If you are from elsewhere, make sure to check with your local embassy first.
Gaming is in the traditional European sense, though you won't find any casinos on the French side. While there are budget accomadations alongside the high rises, keep in mind that the Carribean is not well known for budget backpackers (you're probably better off heading to South America or Southeast Asia for ten dollar days in the tropics!)
Vacations to St Maarten is an amazing experience, and you should most certainly take your time. Remember, when in the Carribean, move like the locals: slowly!
