Thailand Adventure Trips
Thailand adventure trips are everywhere, and you can surely find one to suit your tastes. Whether it’s elephant rides, white water rafting, or mountain climbing, Thailand boasts a wealth of adventure for aspiring backpackers.
Here are a few off the beaten path adventure trips to get your juices flowing:
Mae Sot, Umphang, You can hike/raft your way to the Thilorsu waterfall, then walk through the Palatha Karen villages. Once your tired, arrange for an elephant ride back home.
Kaeng Krachan national park: Camp out in the forest, and take a night hike through HUGE trees.
Klong Tron National Park: Hike to the top of the mountain range (almost 5,000 feet!) and enjoy panoramic views of this incredible natural wonder.
Scuba diving in Phuket: OK, I know this isn’t off the beaten trail, but that doesn’t make this underwater Mecca any less incredible. Visibility can top ninety feet, and the water is warm year round with no need for wetsuits. If you aren’t a certified scuba diver, you can take a three day course and get certified for two hundred dollars. Alternatively, you can also rent snorkel gear (though be sure to fully inspect the straps on goggles, as they are often worn out).
Rock climbing: Northern Thailand is renowned for its world class rock climbing. The beach climbing of Krabi attracts newbie climbers, as well as some of the most experienced in the world. There is something to be said for climbing along the coast, and you’d be hard pressed to find a spot more perfect for this than Thailand. Trips to Thailand are full of adventure, mystery and intrigue… be sure to take each adventure as it comes and always keep an open mind: the best adventures are usually the ones you don’t see coming. |
