Travel Agents Associations That Can Help Your Career & Save You Money
Here is a list of the most popular travel agents associations:
- CheckACode - Validate travel industry and cargo agent ID Cards as well as IATA numeric codes quickly on-line with this site maintained by IATA and IATAN.
- Interline Travel & Tour, Inc. - Provide airline employees, as well as their parents, other family members and friends, a wide variety of cruise and resort/hotel vacations.
- International Airlines Travel Agent Network – Also known as IATAN. This is one of the associations I have belonged to in the past, and they have afforded me many discounts on personal travel. It is a non-profit entity that appoints travel agencies and travel agents (for between $30-45 a year) on behalf of its customer airlines. Highly recommended.
- Marriot Excellence! - This allows you to request special discounts for your clients (not to mention yourself). Marriot provides excellent support for this program, and is free to join (though there is a test you have to take online first).
- Association of Retail Travel Agents - ARTA – This association is just for travel agents, no suppliers. Their website is great for keeping up on trends within the travel industry, particularly for smaller travel agencies.
- National Association of Commissioned Travel Agents - NACTA - If you are a home based agent, or focus on outside sales, this is the one for you.
- World Association of Travel Agencies - WATA – Want to skip regional and national associations? Go ahead and sign up here!
National Travel Agents Associations
- American Society of Travel Agents - ASTA – this is a combination of travel agents and suppliers. Great for networking!
- Australian Federation of Travel Agents - AFTA
- Travel Agents Association of New Zealand - TAANZ
- Japan Association of Travel Agents - JATA
- Irish Travel Agents Association - ITAA
