Budget Travel Advice
Advice for All Budget Travelers
Budget travel advice is a dime a dozen. What really gets me is that people are offering advice like eat street food instead of restaurants. Duh. What people really need are details on how they can lower their travel expenses in a really big way. So let's take a look at some easy to use, highly effective budget travel advice.
Consider round the world travel packages. If you plan on spending a significant amount of time abroad (i.e. more than five months) AND want to see more of the world for less, think about purchasing a round the world ticket. You can find cheap multi destination flights for the same price as round trip. Best website: Airtreks.com.
Purchase ahead of time, or last minute. So many people lament over rising flight costs, when they should have bought the damn thing months ago and saved a bundle. This is one of the common misnomers you hear from so called budget travel advice. Here is my rule of budget travel: purchase tickets ahead of time if you know where you want to go, purchase last minute if you don't. For example, I flew to Hungary from San Francisco for three hundred dollars, last minute. Did I plan on going to Hungary? No, but when the opportunity arose, I took it. And so can you.
Slum it, then go all out. My wife and I cycled across Ireland without breaking the bank, and yet we stayed in a very nice locations (including an old Irish castle). How did we do this? Simple: for every one night in a great location, we camped two nights. Once we arrived at our room for the night, we cleaned up and had a good time. The next morning we showered and hit the road. Following this approach you only miss a shower for one day at a time.
Follow this budget travel advice and watch your costs cower in fear.
