Luxury Hotels in Newport Rhode Island

Looking for luxury hotels in Newport, Rhode Island?

There are many luxury options available, and its important to get an insiders account. As a travel agent, I'm privy not only to the places I research, but also the feedback from discerning travelers. While a guidebook may praise a hotel, their account may already be out of date; often times, the value of the hotel decreases after a few favorable nods).

Therefore, here's the best luxury hotels in Newport, Rhode Island as voted by myself and my clients:

Hotel Viking ( Tel:1.800.556.7126): This is the obvious choice. The Hotel Viking has been a luxury hotel fixture in Newport since it opened its doors in 1926, and has only gotten better with age. The Winter Warmer Dinner Package provides an exceptional value, including 30% off usage of the spa, and includes dinner for two with a pre fixe menu at the fantastic hotel restaurant, One Bellevue. Highly recommended now and probably years to come as one of Rhode Islands' finest luxury hotels.

Vanderbilt Hall Hotel, Newport (41 Mary Street, Newport, RI 02840): A more affordable option, with a fantastic location situated right near the harbor (you can catch the sunset over the water from the rooftop terrace) and countless shops and restaurants. Each room is unique, and the architecture elegantly blends colonial charm with a modern interior. Located just off Thames street, you're not more than a few steps away from anything you could ever need.

Castle Hill Inn, Newport (Tel: 1.888.466.1355) Another permanent fixture among the luxury hotel options in Newport, if not all of Rhode Island. Located right along the water, the beach cottages available are among the most romantic locations I've ever seen. The thing that has always sold me on Castle Hill is that you can sit and watch the sunset over the water from an oversized outdoor chair. While this may not seem like a big deal for Californians, it's an amazing and unique experience to watch the sunset over the ocean on the east coast. In additon, the staff is incredibly friendly and service oriented. A caveat, though: this is a location for couples, and not ideal for high end business travel. You would be better off with the previously mentioned hotels.

Luxury hotels in Newport, Rhode Island abound. Several clients of mine prefer to bounce around and try new places, as the variety is so great. However, these are the three that my clients (and myself) have found to be the most consistent in their level of service and guest experience.
