Lodging Booking Menorca
Looking for lodging and booking in menorca?
While Ibiza may get all the press, those in the know head towards the small Spanish island of Menorca (also spelled Minorca) for the chance to have unspoiled meditarrean beaches all to themselves. In fact, Menorca has more beaches than Ibiza and Mallorca combined (and a helluva lot less people!)
While there, make sure to check out the Mao harbor ( a beautiful place to relax with a cold glass of gin and lemon juice, a local favorite) for a day of rest, then head up Monte Toro, the island’s highest point. The view is certainly worth the effort. You can sample Menorca’s best liquors at Xoriguer Gin Distillery, which offers tours and tastings six days a week (preferably after hiking Monte Toro!)
For dining, make sure to check out the Placa Alfons III, which hosts several wonderful cafes and restaurants with a distinctive Spanish flavor. The most authentic dishes can be found at the Windmill restaurant, which has catered to guests forever.
As for lodging, if you have the money, there is no better way to experience Menorca than to book your coastal villa. Barring that, a slightly less luxurious option is to stay in the wonderful Hotel Mirador des Port, (+34 971 360 016, Carrer de Dalt Vilanova).Keep in mind that these are two of the higher end lodging options in Menorca.
At the lower end of the spectrum, you can find a few hostels. The most barebones (and therefore cheapest) is the Ciutadella Hostel Menorca (Ciutadella Hostel, San Eloy, 707760, Ciudadela) where you can hang out with other backpackers. It is a short walk to the beach, but then again, so is everywhere on Menorca. A step above the Ciutadella is the Hostal Jeni, which features close to fifty single and dorm style rooms. A lodging booking in menorca can range from lavish to dirt cheap, and can readily accommodate a wide variety of tastes and budgets. The important thing to remember is that Menorca is a place meant to be explored! |
