Accommodation in a Hoian hotel may be just what you need...
Vietnam, with its recent opening up to the world, is bound to become the next Thailand. With its beautiful beaches, fascinating culture, and delicious cuisine, this will no doubt become yet another hot spot for backpackers in Southeast Asia. Accommodation in Hoian, hotel or budget, has begun to rise as more and more tourists show up. My advice for budget-concscious travelers is to look for a hotel that is outside the central district, as this is the main area for package tourists.
Here are several hotels that cover the spectrum of accommodation options in Hoian:
Dai Long, 19 Hai Ba Trung St., Hoi An. The ultimate budget option in my opinion. For less than $20 per night you'll find all the extras, from hot showers to air conditioning to free wifi. In addition, there also provide discount rates for extended stays, which can be a life saver in Hoian. As I've said time and time again, Hoian may be seem like a tourist trap at first, but after a day or two you may want to settle in.
Ha An Hotel, 06-08 Phan Boi Chau, Hoi An. At the other end of the spectrum lies this quiet little hotel, with the customarily friendly staff and clean rooms. The highlight of the Ha An hotel is the garden area; if you can, try and take advantage of the hammock and relax. It's a great way to beat the humidity Vietnam is famous for! At $65 per night, this is incredibly expensive by Vietnamese standards, but if you have the money, it is certainly worth it.
Life Heritage Resort, 1 Pham Hong Thai Street, Hoi An. There is one word to describe the Life Heritage: beautiful and at a price tag of $150 per night, it better be. Having said that, you'll be absolutely amazed at this location, a two story building with gorgeous columns, nestled alongside the river. The restaurant downstairs is fantastic, and the rooms are HUGE by Hoi An standards. Definitely the most upscale high value accommodation in town.
